The Cannes Film Festival is today the most prestigious cinematographic gathering and the most publicized cultural event in the world.

While it has become an essential meeting place for film-producing countries, it is through its history, its selections, and its awards that we usually trace it back to 1946, the date of its first official edition.

However, one must go back eight years earlier to glimpse the origins of its creation.
